The Fell's Point Fun Festival began in 1967 to drive opposition to a highway overpass project that would have connected 1-83 and 1-95 and demolished an extensive area of Fell's Point.

Grassroots efforts such as the Festival brought the community together to “Stop the Road” and save Fell’s Point. Today’s organizers, The Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill and Fell’s Point was one of the many neighborhood groups that played a part. The organization’s mission remains much the same in 2025 – to preserve the historic buildings and character of Fell’s Point – as it was in the 1960s.

The Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill and Fell’s Point organizes the Fun Festival at no cost to the city of Baltimore. Generous donations and festival revenue fund its operations. Sponsors not only provide brand exposure for their organizations but also directly support an integral community organization.

The Fell’s Point Fun Festival has grown dramatically over the years and continues to have a large impact in maintaining the historic integrity of Fell’s Point for businesses, residents, and visitors.
